Rise From the Ashes - A Tale of YouTube Resurrection
About two years ago, YouTube's anti-infringement bots went haywire and suspended our original account. We were hurt. We had no idea what we did to deserve that. We had built up a collection of great videos, a decent total view count, favorited videos, and some subscribers. Plus, YouTube, at the time, was our main means of advertising. Without it we were lost. We scrambled to open a secondary account, with which you may be familiar, but it still lacked what made our original channel awesome.

In recent weeks, it came to light that the YouTube copyright protection algorithm, or whatever is is called (which I above referred to a "anti-infringement bots"), were shown to be faulty as a number other user accounts had been suspended for similar reasons. In addition to these accounts being suspended, shady groups were our issuing false copyright claims on properties they did not own which resulted in several users' video being flagged as infringing which led to suspensions. We suspected that this happened to our account as well.

I'll walk you through an annotated history of this ordeal.

Now we begin the appeals process...

Thank you for submitting your video appeal to YouTube.

After further review of the content, we've determined that your video does violate our Community Guidelines and have upheld our original decision. We appreciate your understanding.

Note: Some how I received two of these the same day, same wording, so I only quoted one.

Sometime in early March 2012, I opened the 42Kmi Boards YouTube channel through a new account. Still the appeals continued, though not as often as focus shifted to the new account.

Quote:Hi there,

Thank you for your account suspension appeal. We have decided to keep your account suspended based on our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Please visit http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines for more information.

Sincerely,

The YouTube Team
Note: After seeing this, I pretty much gave up on the old account.

On learning of YouTubes attempt to correct their wacky content ID bots and tackle copyright trolls, I appealed again on December 23, 2013:
Quote:Hi TorengoSP,

Thanks for your email. Your "TorengoSP" account has been suspended due to repeated or severe violations of our Terms of Use and claims of copyright infringement. Suspended accounts cannot be reinstated. Federal law requires that we terminate accounts when there are repeated claims of copyright infringement. Because you have had other videos rejected in the past, we are unable to reinstate your account. Users with suspended or terminated accounts are prohibited from creating new accounts or accessing YouTube’s community. In order for your account to be reinstated, you will need to resolve at least one of the following video removals.

The following videos have been removed from your account:

Penalty 1:

I want to note that the "infringing" video in question either demonstrated music mods of games or advertised 42Kmi.com and related businesses, things plenty of other YouTube members do all the time, everyday. Pretty much a summary of the original offenses.

I tried again the next day, Christmas Eve, and appealed back-to-back. December 24, 2013:
Quote:
Dear Google user,

Thank you for reaching out about your difficulties accessing your Google account.

We’ve looked into your request and we’ve found that there is already a pending appeal for your account. Please wait for the result of your current appeal. Thanks for your patience!

Sincerely,

The Google Accounts Team
Note: Because of the back-to-back appeal

Quote:Hi there,

We have re-reviewed the circumstances of your suspension and have concluded it is appropriate to reinstate your account. This means your account is once again active and operational.

If you have forgotten your password, please visit this link to reset it: http://www.youtube.com/account_recovery

Note: Holy Crap! It's a Christmas Miracle! I had not seen the email until around 2am December 26, 2013.

Our original YouTube account is back! Celebrate with us by watching videos at http://youtube.com/TorengoSP

The TorengoSP account has videos of the RHA Brawl Tournament we hosted and several other videos that are fun to watch. I challenge anyone to watch all of the videos presently available between the two accounts.

There's no need to disable the 42Kmi Boards account as it has served us well. So moving forward, we will operate through both YouTube accounts. There may be some redundancies, and such, but that is so we may reach the different viewers who have to subscribed to one or the other of the two accounts.
